Police hunting for assailants in stabbing of man in Oakland Mills

A Columbia man was stabbed Sunday night in Oakland Mills, Howard County police said yesterday.

Corey Darrell Murphy, 19, of the 9400 block of Timesweep Lane in Oakland Mills was walking on a bike path near the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road about 7:43 p.m. when he was approached by two men, according to police.

One of them stabbed Murphy in the lower torso. Murphy was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was listed in serious condition yesterday.

Police were searching for the assailants and said they knew of no motive for the crime.
