Cardinals update

For longtime St. Louis baseball fans, this series carries special significance as the first regular-season meeting between the Cardinals and the team formerly known as the St. Louis Browns. The Browns left St. Louis after the 1953 season and became the Baltimore Orioles. The Browns and Cardinals met in the 1944 World Series and both teams will don throwback uniforms from that year for tomorrow's game. The Cardinals, a game out of first place in the NL Central at 31-27, have two of the National League's batting leaders in Albert Pujols and Edgar Renteria. Pujols leads the NL with a .379 average, and Renteria is at .339. The Orioles won't have to face Woody Williams (8-1) in this series, but they will see one of the NL's best Sunday in Morris. He has won six of his past seven decisions and has pitched at least six innings in each of his 13 starts.
