A multi-vehicle crash yesterday evening on U.S., 40 in Rosedale left one driver dead and another injured, Baltimore County police said.
Just after 6:30 p.m., a florist delivery van heading west near Chesaco Avenue crossed into oncoming traffic and struck an eastbound Toyota Camry, according to Officer Shawn Vinson, a police spokesman.
The Camry's driver was outside his car even as the van continued spinning and struck a Mazda MPV minivan and an Oldsmobile, which in turn hit the Camry driver, Vinson said. He was dead at the scene.
It was not clear last night why the Camry driver was outside his vehicle, Vinson said.
An eastbound scooter also became involved in the accident when it struck the wrecked MPV. The scooter driver was taken to Bayview Hospital, with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Vinson said.
Names of the victims were not available. The accident remained under investigation last night.
