Ethnic festivals

The Showcase of Nations ethnic festivals kick off this weekend with the Polish Festival in Patterson Park. The festivities continue until mid-October, when the Russian Festival closes out the season.

The following is a list of the scheduled celebrations.

Tomorrow through Sunday: Polish Festival at Patterson Park. 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Friday, noon-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. $3 per person, but kids under 12 are free with a paying adult. The festival, in its 30th year, will include polka bands and dance groups. Try some Polish beer and liquor or have a kielbasa. Peirogies and other ethnic food will also be available. June 6-8: African American Heritage Festival at Camden Yards

June 28-29: Latino Festival at Patterson Park

July 18-20: Caribbean Festival at Druid Hill Park

Aug. 1-2: International Festival at City Hall/War Memorial Plaza

Aug. 15-17: German Festival at Carroll Park

Sept. 6-7: Ukranian Festival at Patterson Park

Sept. 19-21: Irish Festival at the 5th Regiment Armory

Sept. 27: Korean Festival at City Hall/War Memorial Plaza

Oct. 17-19: Russian Festival at Holy Trinity Russian Church

Charles Village Festival

Get out your running shoes and dancing boots for the 7th Annual Charles Village Festival, Saturday and Sunday at the Wyman Park Dell.

Festivities will begin Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with a 5K foot race, followed by a free 1K fun run for kids at 9 a.m. The celebration continues with a 10 a.m. parade through the neighborhood, featuring art cars, floats and more. After dancing in the Dell from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, join community members for the annual garden walk on Sunday.

From 11 a.m to 4 p.m., tour the yards of more than 20 residences. (Same-day tickets for the garden walk are $8.)

Festival at Boordy

Boordy Vineyards presents its annual Wine and Herb Fest on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Winetasting, vineyard wagon rides and dancing are among the activities during this rain or shine event. Folk artist Mae Robertson performs both days.

Boordy Vineyards is at 12820 Long Green Pike, Hydes. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 2-12 and free for children under 2. For information, call 410-592-5015 or visit www.boordy.com.

Weekend bike tours

Join hundreds of other bike enthusiasts at the 20th Annual MS 150 Chesapeake Challenge Bike Tour Saturday and Sunday.

Riders can choose from a variety of course lengths, but all courses begin at Anne Arundel Community College.

The route will open at 7 a.m. on Saturday and massage therapy will be available for cyclists noon-5 p.m. on Saturday.
