The fifth-ranked Cardinals (21-6) will face No. 3 St. Paul's (21-6) in today's championship at 4 p.m. at Camden Yards. St. Paul's is unbeaten in the tournament, and should it lose today, will play Calvert Hall again tomorrow for the title at a site to be determined. Mount St. Joseph (25-4) lost, 1-0, to St. Paul's on Monday.
Calvert Hall trailed 5-4 when Michael Patchak singled and pinch runner Tony Muscella stole second to set up Tomaschko's RBI single that tied the score at 5. Nick Erringer's single put Tomaschko on third, and Ryan Frey singled him home.
"We played very well after we dropped that first game [in the opening round] to St. Paul's," said coach Lou Eckerl. "We got rid of those jitters and played like we did all year."
Ryan Lanpher won in relief, pitching five innings and giving up one run.
