Road to Baltimore: Wins over Virginia, Georgetown and Towson helped the Terps earn an at-large bid and the third seed. They held off Ohio State, 8-5, in the first round at Byrd Stadium, then beat Massachusetts, 13-7, in the quarterfinals at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.

Goal leader: Joe Walters, freshman attackman, 33.

Assist leader: Dan LaMonica, junior attackman, 20.

Goalie: Danny McCormick, senior, 6.74 goals-against average, .626 save percentage.

NCAA resume: Since winning the title in 1973 and '75, the Terps have gone 0-5 in championship games. They last reached the final four in 1998. This is Maryland's 25th tournament.

Famous Terps: CBS sports reporter Bonnie Bernstein; former Maryland governors Harry R. Hughes and Marvin Mandel; NFL Hall of Famer Randy White; NCAA title-winning basketball coach Gary Williams.

Did you know? The Terps played host to the final four seven times between 1993 and 2000.
