Churches unite to spread prayer with walk tomorrow

NEIGHBORS

Tomorrow's Spring Saturation Prayer Walk, sponsored by local churches, will bring prayer out of church buildings and into the neighborhood.

"Four churches are working together and inviting people to go out into the community and pray in different neighborhoods about the people who live there, go to church there, go to school there," said the Rev. Galen Menne of Savage United Methodist Church. "We're praying as we walk, in terms of the people who live in the different homes. If it's an apartment building, [we'll] just pray for the well-being of the all the residents."

The event is the first of its kind in southern Howard County, Menne said. Also participating are First Baptist Church of Savage, Bethel Assembly of God and Countryside Fellowship Church.

"It's different than praying within the walls of the church," Menne said.

"We're going outside the walls, taking our prayers into the community. It's just [asking that] God's blessing and protection be upon them."

Participants will meet for a brief devotion and orientation at 10 a.m. at Bethel Assembly. Prayer walking will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will continue until 11:45 a.m. The group will meet at noon at Countryside Fellowship Church to conclude the event.

Information: the Rev. Menne, 301-725-7630.
