On Monday, April 7, 2003, JOAN PANCOAST HITESHEW, 73, passed away. She was a resident of Baytown TX, and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 28 years. She retired in Baltimore, MD, as a Labor Unions Funds Administrator. Joan was a direct descendant of the first governor, Thomas Johnson of the State of Maryland. She was an avid Democrat, bridge player, antique collector, stamp collector and an upfront front door girl. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Don Hiteshew of Baytown, daughter Margaret Lee Crumley and husband Fred, son Steve Carter and wife Karen all of Austin, TX, daughter Jenny Scherry and husband Tom of Phoenix, AZ, step children Ellie Hiteshew-Grennan of Kingston, Jamaica and Karen Hiteshew of South Port, NC, sister, Betty Sultana and husband Emanuel of Clearwater, FL, brother Bill Eskite and wife Betty of Mt. Airy, MD, sister-in-law Heddy Eskite of Hernando, FL, and former son-in-law Ratima Lewis, wife and sons of McNair, TX. She is also survived by four grandchildren Abby Carter, Hana Crumley, Graham Carter, Mina Rose Carter, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family has requested donations be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 712 Schilling Street, Baytown, TX, 77521. Graveside Services at Govans Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 5826 York Road, Saturday, May 10, at 10 A.M.
