Maryland Transportation Authority police arrested two men in White Marsh yesterday on charges of using bogus checks to purchase $3,700 worth of merchandise in a shopping spree across Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties.
Police pulled over a car on Interstate 95 about 4 p.m. after noticing that the driver, Tahai Jamar Exum, 26, of Pine Hill, N.J., wasn't wearing his seat belt, police said.
Officer Christopher Reiber found that Exum was wanted on a warrant for violating probation on a New Jersey fraud charge. Reiber searched the 1999 Acura and reported finding clothes, compact discs, pocketbooks, cooking utensils, sporting goods, gift certificates and other merchandise. Many items had price tags still attached. He also found fraudulent driver's licenses and checks, police said.
Exum and his passenger, Antar T. Bush, 23, of Philadelphia were each charged with two felony counts of forgery, police said.
