Tigers update

The Tigers are off to the worst start in franchise history, and they have little chance of posting their first winning record since 1993. Under first-year manager Alan Trammell, they're on pace to break the 1962 New York Mets' record for most losses in a season (120). The Mets were 6-17 after 23 games. They also were an expansion team. What's the 3-20 Tigers' excuse? Detroit went 4-2 against the Orioles last season, winning the season series for the first time since 1994. But the Orioles are thinking sweep here. The Tigers have scored 52 runs, fewest in the majors, and second-leading hitter Eugene Kingsale will miss the opener while being knighted, along with ex-Orioles teammates Sidney Ponson and Calvin Maduro, in his native Aruba.
