Baltimore man gets time served in kidnapping case

A Baltimore man was sentenced yesterday in Carroll County Circuit Court to the two years he has served in state prison since his arrest in April 2001 in the kidnapping, rape and torture of a Westminster woman.

Olistean Alexander Jones, 23, formerly of the 1900 block of Clifton Ave. is serving a state sentence on a drug conviction, according to prosecutors and court documents. He pleaded guilty last year to conspiring to kidnap the 39-year-old woman Jan. 11, 2001, from a Liberty Street apartment where she was visiting. The victim was taken by four men to an apartment in the 300 block of E. Main St., where she was raped by one of the men, beaten and assaulted.

Jones, known as "Bean," served primarily as a lookout and was the least involved of the three men convicted so far in the crime, said Assistant State's Attorney Natasha M. Byus. Judge Michael M. Galloway ordered that Jones undergo drug treatment and testing after his release from state prison.
