National Volunteer Week activities mark community efforts in Carroll County

Volunteer Carroll is celebrating National Volunteer Week through Saturday with activities honoring the county's volunteers.

The theme is "Celebrate Volunteers - The Spirit of America," focusing on the tradition of neighbors helping each other.

Volunteer Carroll and its partnership organizations have participated in coordinating the Special Olympics event to be held tomorrow at Westminster High School and a Carroll County chapter of Habitat for Humanity house building project Saturday.

In addition, McDaniel College will hold a community service awards banquet to honor its student volunteers today.

Volunteer Carroll is a center that works with organizations in the county to connect volunteers with community service and other volunteer opportunities.
