Mildred L. Greaves, a longtime employee of various federal agencies, including the Social Security Administration, died of cancer Thursday at the Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. The Cockeysville resident was 85.

Born in Wishek, N.D., Mildred Daniels lived in Minnesota, where she spent two years working on a business degree.

She and her family had lived in Baltimore since 1970, when her husband, former Master Sgt. Thompson T. Greaves, retired from the Army. Sergeant Greaves died in 1981.

"She worked for various federal agencies while my father was in the Army, and we lived all over the United States, in Germany and in Hawaii," said her son Patrick, with whom she lived in Cockeysville.

Her last job was as a secretary at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, where she worked for about 10 years. She retired in 1980.

She was a member of the Leisure Club of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cockeysville.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 101 Church Lane, Cockeysville.

In addition to her son, she is survived by another son, Nicholas Greaves of Baldwin, and a daughter, Lindsay Waugh of Abingdon.
