Restaurant owner fined $500 in illegal sale of alcohol

April 27, 2003|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

The owner of a Clarksville restaurant must pay a $500 fine for an employee's mistake in selling alcohol to an underage undercover police agent.

The sale occurred Sept. 12, when Howard County police Detective Martin Johnson sent the young woman into Susan Davis' Luna C Grille, in the 6000 block Daybreak Circle, to try to buy alcohol illegally.

In a statement of facts presented to the county liquor board April 7, and agreed to by Davis, the bartender sold the police agent a bottle of Mike's Hard Lemonade without asking for identification.

The board said in an order issued April 22 that it would not revoke or suspend the license because Davis "admitted the mistake, appeared genuinely sorry for the mistake, and has promised to be more careful."
