April 27, 2003

The Bel Air farmers' market has opened for the season in the District Courthouse parking lot at the Mary E. Risteau State Office Building off Bond Street.

The Bel Air market operates from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturdays through November.

The Bel Air market is the first of four such markets to open in the county this season.

Edgewood's farmers' market will be open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays from May 8 through Oct. 30, next to the MARC train station on Edgewood Road.

The Havre de Grace farmers' market will operate from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays from May 3 through Oct. 25 on Pennington Avenue between Washington Street and Union Avenue.

The fourth farmers' market is the Twilight Market at Rockfield, operating from 5 p.m. to dusk on the last Friday of each month from May through September at Rockfield Manor, off Route 22 in Bel Air.

"People are looking forward to purchasing farm-fresh produce, and ... they're convenient to communities throughout the county," said Harford County Executive James M. Harkins.
