Police say victim in crash had been shot

April 21, 2003

A 33-year-old Crofton man who crashed his car into a tree early yesterday had been fatally shot, authorities said.

Aaron Kirk Howard of the 1800 block of Aberdeen Circle was pronounced dead at the scene after he was discovered in the driver's seat of an Oldsmobile in the 600 block of Admiral Drive, said county police.

His death was caused by gunshot wound to his head and has been ruled a homicide, the state medical examiner's office said.

Witnesses told police that they saw two men run from the car after it crossed the center line and hit a tree on the opposite side of the road shortly before 2:30 a.m. Investigators were trying yesterday to determine a motive and the circumstances leading to Howard's death.
