Devil Rays update

Tampa Bay took two of three from the Orioles earlier this month at Tropicana Field. The Devil Rays rallied from a 6-0 deficit after two innings to win, 8-7 in the 10th, scoring twice off closer Jorge Julio, and won 10-7 the following night. The Orioles led 4-0 in the second inning. Tony Batista homered twice off Bierbrodt, who might go to the bullpen. Ponson held the Devil Rays to two earned runs over seven innings to avoid the sweep. Tampa Bay has slipped back into last place, after reaching third. Sosa replaced injured left-hander Jim Parque. Rookie center fielder Rocco Baldelli is batting .387 to lead the Devil Rays, who were hitting .289 entering play yesterday to rank second in the league behind New York. Their 6.15 ERA ranked last, and their 16 errors were the second most behind Toronto.
