WINE OF THE WEEK

April 16, 2003|By Michael Dresser

2002 Domaine de Montmarin Viognier, Vin de Pays des Cotes de Thongue ($9). An exceptional value for a Viognier, this crisp white wine from the south of France delivers fresh, intense flavors highlighted by cherry, peach, sweet pea, citrus and herbs. It's not quite a Condrieu - the rare and expensive Viognier-based white Rhone wine - but there are echoes here. Drink this wine with seafood or spicy Asian or creole dishes over the next year.
