Charm City Challenge tips off on Friday

A dunk contest and three-point challenge Friday at the Baltimore City Community College Liberty campus will start the weekend festivities of the Marine Corps Charm City Challenge.

On Sunday at the Towson Center, a game between city and suburban high school basketball all-stars starts at 4 p.m. In the featured event, a team of Baltimore all-stars will challenge a group of U.S. all-stars.

Four University of Maryland recruits will play in the featured game. Hassan Fofana (Hargrave Military Academy, Va.), Ekene Ibekwe (Carson High, Calif.) and D.J. Strawberry (Mater Dei High, Calif.) will play for the U.S. team. Will Bowers (Archbishop Spalding) will play for the Baltimore squad.

Friday's events start at 6:30 p.m., and the $5 tickets are available at the door only. For Sunday, tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, and are available at the door or by calling 410-605-9381.
