No. 9 Penn State ends Hopkins' women's run at 4 in 11-4 defeat

Stephanie Curnoles scored a goal and added three assists, and four other Nittany Lions scored two goals apiece to lead the No. 9 Penn State women's lacrosse team to an 11-4 win over No. 18 Johns Hopkins yesterday at chilly Homewood Field.

Penn State, which improved to 6-5 overall and 3-0 in the American Lacrosse Conference, led 6-1 at the half and by as many as nine goals.

Lee Tortorelli made 17 saves for the Nittany Lions, and Jen McDonald stopped five shots for the Blue Jays.

Hopkins, which had its winning streak end at four, fell to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference. The Blue Jays outshot Penn State 30-20 and held a 36-25 advantage in ground balls.
