Monmouth rallies past UMBC, 7-5

Monmouth knocked off defending Northeast Conference champion and league preseason favorite UMBC, 7-5, in women's lacrosse yesterday at Kessler Field in West Long Branch, N.J.

Freshman Erica Evangelisti (three goals) broke a 5-5 tie with UMBC (2-7, 1-1) by scoring a pair of goals to lead the Hawks (3-5, 2-0).

Evangelisti tied the game at 5 on an unassisted goal with 21:23 left, and the two teams went scoreless for the next 10 minutes.

Chestnut Hill 21, Hood 10: Tiffany Still and Emily Adams scored three goals each as the host Blazers (2-5, 2-1) dropped their first Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference game of the season to the visiting Griffins (2-3, 2-0).

Wagner 13, Mount St. Mary's 6: The host Seahawks (3-8, 0-2 Northeast Conference) - led by Jill Pyzik and Heather George with three each - scored 11 straight goals to down the visiting Mount (3-8, 0-2).
