Dorothy F. Rennie, 91, school assistant principal

Dorothy Fleetwood Rennie, a retired assistant principal of two elementary schools, died of natural causes Tuesday at Charlestown Retirement Community. She was 91.

Born in Queen Anne's County, Mrs. Rennie attended high school in Centreville. She received a teaching degree from what is now Towson University in 1930 and attended graduate courses at the University of Maryland and the Johns Hopkins University.

In 1930, Mrs. Rennie taught at Felton Elementary School in Queen Anne's County. She later taught at Centreville Elementary School and Grasonville Elementary School.

In 1948, she married William Glenn Rennie Jr., who died in 1992. For two years, she was an administrative assistant to the head of the University of Maryland's Extension Bureau.

Mrs. Rennie later taught in Baltimore County public schools and was on the faculty of Colgate, Berkshire and Hampton elementary schools. She was promoted to assistant principal of Pleasant Plains Elementary School and was named assistant principal at Logan Elementary School in 1968. She retired in 1973.

She enjoyed books, crossword puzzles and poetry, said a granddaughter, Pam Burke of Lutherville.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ruck Towson Funeral Home, 1050 York Road.

Mrs. Rennie is survived by three other grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her stepson, William Rennie II, died in 2000.
