The Monday editions of The Sun carried a photograph on Page 11A from the Los Angeles Times depicting a British soldier with Iraqi residents fleeing Basra. The Times subsequently determined that the photo was fraudulent, a composite of two separate photos, and fired Brian Walski, the photographer.
The policy of The Sun is clear: The images we present to our readers in our news pages are real; no alteration of content is acceptable. Illustrations that make use of and adapt photographs are identified as such and are not used with news stories.
