After finishing 74-88 last season, Cleveland is going through a youth movement under new manager Eric Wedge. The Indians will play four regulars with fewer than 50 games of major league experience, in catcher Josh Bard, first baseman Travis Hafner, second baseman Brandon Phillips and third baseman Casey Blake. Cleveland lost one of the game's premier power hitters to free agency, when Jim Thome signed with the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Indians traded hard-throwing ace Bartolo Colon last June, so this team is clearly rebuilding. It acquired former New York Yankees outfielder Shane Spencer, and he had a strong spring, batting .333 with six homers and 16 RBIs. Pitching appears to be this team's biggest weakness, with Sabathia, 22, serving as the ace. Rodriguez could prove to be a tough young right-hander if he can cut down his walk totals.
