UM women surge past Ohio State

No. 2 Terps prevail, 10-5, improve record to 10-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The unbeaten and second-ranked Maryland women's lacrosse team handed No. 16 Ohio State a 10-5 loss yesterday in the final game of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Playing in a strong breeze with a temperature of 33 degrees, the Terrapins (10-0) scored the game's first five goals and didn't allow the Buckeyes (7-2) to come closer than two goals. The win marks the ninth time that Maryland has started a season 10-0.

Sonia Judd scored twice during the Terps' game-opening run, then added an assist late in the game to join Acacia Walker and Kristie Leggio with three points apiece. Regina Oliver led Ohio State with three goals, including two in a row to stop Maryland's run.

Maryland's Alexis Venechanos made nine saves in goal.
