ROY E. BENNETT JR., of Hagerstown, formerly of Baltimore passed away on Friday March 28, 2003 in the University of Maryland Medical Center. Born on May 17, 1947 in White Sulphur Springs, WV., he is the only son of Roy E. Bennett Sr., and Felicia F. (Ryder) Bennett of Ellicott City, MD. He was a 1969 graduate from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Political Science. He was in the United States Marine Corps and he moved to Hagerstown in 1988. He attended the Church of the Nazarene in Hagerstown and he was a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post 48 and the Moose Lodge #2435. He was the owner/operator of Ron's Deli in Hagerstown for 14 years. He is survived by a daughter Carrie Allison Stine of Greencastle, PA, two sons Kelly Christopher Bennett of Hagerstown and Daniel Richard Bennett of Hagerstown, a sister Yvonne R. Lame of Lewiston, ID, one brother Robert L. Bennett Sr., of Sykesville, MD and his fiancee Beverly Lorshbaugh of Hagerstown. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday April 1, 2003 at 12 noon at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742. Pastor Stephen Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 7 to 9 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2654 Valley Ave., Suite B, Winchester, Va 22601.
