State Superintendent Nancy S. Grasmick has rejected the Harford County schools' request that she waive the makeup of three school days lost to inclement weather.
As a result, schools will remain open through June 13, Donald Morrison, a spokesman for the county school system, said Friday.
FOR THE RECORD - In an article Sunday about the Harford County public school schedule, the date of school closing this year was incorrect. Schools will remain open through June 18.
The Sun regrets the error.
Looking ahead to the 2004-2005 school year, the county schools have recommended that students begin the academic year Aug. 30 and that classes end June 17, 2005. The schedule includes six days for inclement weather, Morrison said.
The school board will accept public comment on the recommendation until it meets April 28, when it is expected to act on the recommendation.
Morrison said the next school year is scheduled to begin Aug. 25 for students. The schedule includes four days for inclement weather. If the snow days are used, classes will end June 11.
