RUTH SYLVIA HEALY died of brain cancer, Sunday, March 23, 2003 at her home in Ellicott City, MD. She was 65 at the time of her death. A native of Sagaponack, L.I., New York, Mrs. Healy graduated from East Hampton L.I. High School and Fredonia State College, Fredonia, NY where she majored in music. In 1965, she earned a Master's degree in Music from Trenton State University, Trenton, NJ and completed her Doctor's Equivalency courses form various institutions including Duquesne University, Pittsburg, PA, Villanova University, Philadelphia, PA and Town State College, Towson, MD. Before moving to Baltimore in 1966, Mrs. Healy taught children of Department of Defense employees in Nurnberg, Germany. While residing in Baltimore, Mrs. Healy taught vocal music in the Baltimore County Public School System retiring in 1995 after spending 20 years at Franklin Elementary School, Reisterstown, MD. Her personal interest covered a wide spectrum from sking, flower gardening, mountain climbing, traveling, and camping. Her passion was her school children and her family. She was a member of of the Basilica of the Assumption of Mary Our Queen, Baltimore, MD, The Church of the Resurrection, Ellicott City, MD and St. Alphonsus Rodriguez Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. In addition to her husband, John P. Healy of 36 years, her two sons also survive her, Jared T. Healy, Esq. and his wife, Amy of Columbia and Jason P. Healy of Mataro, Spain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Today at 9 AM at the St. Alphonsus Rodriguez Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Rodriguez Cemetery.
