OH — Reading is educational. It's a way to pass free time. It's an alternative to television. It pleases teachers and parents.

Oh - and let's not forget - reading is also fun.

To celebrate National Library Week (April 6-12), the Mount Airy branch of the Carroll County Library invites kids of all ages to drop by now and check out Garfield the cat's list of the Top 10 Reasons to Read. Then, kids are encouraged to draw up their own list of Top 10 Reasons to Read and drop it off at the library's Information Desk.

On May 1, the library will post its own Top 10 Reasons to Read, using suggestions from all the lists that have been submitted. Even if you yourself don't need a reason to read, you can contribute your ideas for those who do. The library hopes that the list will inspire kids, and adults, to spend more time buried in books.

Entries will be accepted until April 19. The Mount Airy Branch Library is at 705 Ridge Ave. For more information, call 410-386-4470.
