March 26, 2003

Kathryn Julia Wheeler, a retired office manager for an Owings Mills clothing manufacturer, died of coronary artery disease March 19 at her Stevensville home. She was 89.

Kathryn Julia Tracy was born and raised in Smithsburg, where she graduated from high school.

Her marriage to William Malcolm Moores ended with his death in 1946. In 1949, she married John Raymond Wheeler, a production control manager at the former Glenn L. Martin Co., who died in 1988.

Mrs. Wheeler, a longtime Parkville resident, worked for more than 20 years as office manager for J. Schoeneman Inc., the former Owings Mills clothing manufacturer. She retired in 1974, and since 1994 had lived on Kent Island.

FOR THE RECORD - Kathryn Julia Wheeler: An obituary in yesterday's editions for Kathryn Julia Wheeler omitted a survivor, her grandson Scott Wheeler of Bel Air. The Sun regrets the error.

She was a former member of Hiss United Methodist Church in Parkville, where she had been a member of United Methodist Women and served on many committees. She was also a member of the Towson Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. April 12 at Kent Island United Methodist Church in Chester.

Survivors include two sons, John D. Wheeler of Parkville and A. Keith Wheeler of Stevensville; three sisters, Miriam Palmer of Bel Air, Florence Spangler of Winchester, Va., and Margaret Boswell of Smithsburg; and many nephews and nieces.
