Man accused of firing gun at his home

A Westminster man was arrested early yesterday, accused of using a shotgun to ward off people after his lawn was torn up by a pickup truck, state police said.

Gregory Saylor, 52, of Cardinal Drive accosted the driver and passengers in the truck, which repeatedly had run across his lawn in the early morning hours, police said. When several people got out of the vehicle and allegedly threatened him, Saylor fired two rounds from a 16-gauge shotgun in their direction, police said.

Troopers recovered the shotgun at the scene.

Saylor, charged with assault and reckless endangerment, was released on personal recognizance later in the day. He declined to comment on the incident last night.

Investigators also arrested the alleged driver, Donnamarie Overholtzer, 22, of Midway Park, N.C. She was charged with driving under the influence, malicious destruction of property and trespassing, and released on $10,000 bond.
