Spur gets best-in-show

Total of 78 awards handed out at Best in Baltimore event

Eisner Communications Inc. and its Eisner Underground Division won 33 ADDYs at the 29th annual Best in Baltimore ADDY Awards Show. Spur Design took home the best-in-show award.

Spur Design won for its Axis Theatre posters, which advertise plays for the local theater group. Spur Design also won four ADDY awards.

Seventy-eight ADDYs were awarded at Saturday's ceremony from 480 entries.

Eisner Communications won 21 ADDYs, and Eisner Underground won 12, along with a special judges' award for copywriting. Eisner Communications has a staff of 150 and had billings of $275 million last year.

FOR THE RECORD - Devaney & Associates was omitted from a list of ADDY winners published in yesterday's Business section. The firm won a special judges' "from the heart" ADDY for its "Share the Love" D&A Holiday "Videe-Jingle-O." The Sun regrets the error.

"What makes this year so especially gratifying is that virtually every client and every team is represented yet again," said Stephen Etzine, executive creative director at Eisner. "We're fortunate to have clients that place a premium on smart, strategically focused work and a team that's terrifically motivated. Having Underground playing in the same sandbox hasn't hurt us either. It creates a healthy rivalry. We constantly push each other to get to better work."

Other big winners were gkv with five ADDYs; MGH and Alexander and Tom Inc., each with four; and Siquis Ltd., with three.
