Cardin to speak about Medicare at AARP meeting

Patapsco Valley Chapter 3850 of AARP will meet March 26 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 118 Marydell Road, Linthicum.

A social hour with refreshments will begin at noon, followed by the program at 12:45 p.m. A business meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Rep. Benjamin L. Cardin, a Baltimore Democrat, will discuss prescription medicines, Medicare and other issues pending before Congress.

Members are asked to bring nonperishable goods to donate to Severna Park Assistance Network.

March 31 is the deadline for paying dues for 2003 and returning registration forms.

Public service group celebrates name change

A party to celebrate the beginning of the season and official name change of Christmas In-April to Rebuilding Together, will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. March 27, at the South River Cafe, Route 7 at the South River Bridge.

Videos of the group's work will be shown, and the music of Blues Jam with Dean Rosenthal will be featured. Information: 410-263-0405.

Employers being sought for job fair next month

Employers can reserve a spot at the Anne Arundel County Spring Job Expo, scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. April 3 in Jenkins Gymnasium at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold.

More than 2,000 job-seekers attended a similar event last spring.

More than 75 employers are expected. Tables ($150) may be reserved until Friday. Information: Sharon Cager, 410-315- 8873.

The fair is sponsored by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Job Service; Anne Arundel Community College; the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce; Anne Arundel County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services; Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce; and the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce.

Sales refresher:

The Sales and Service Center at Arundel Mills will offer a training seminar titled "Sales and Service Refresher" this month. Classes will meet from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow and March 25. Courses also will be offered Wednesdays April 9 to 30 and Tuesdays in May. The instructor is Maria Huguley. Continuing education units are awarded for completing the class.
