Volunteer firefighters too valuable to lose

I have been a volunteer all my life. I understand completely how important it is to support, nurture and participate, and no volunteer system is more important to Carroll County than the local fire companies.

Including emergency needs in impact fees or allowing grants by those profiting most by growth would take financial pressure off taxpayers, but in the long run it would slowly erode the valuable and essential volunteer system.

We are exploring the fine line between paid fire personnel and volunteers, and the results for Carroll County could be devastating.
