DEUTSCHE BANK-SAP OPEN: Announced that Ernie Els has committed to play in tournament, set for May in Germany.


NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE: Announced that Sabres have executed an asset purchase agreement with Thomas Golisano, providing for sale of franchise. Deemed F Dean McAmmond ineligible to play for Flames for rest of season after determining the trade with Avalanche that sent him to Flames earlier in the week violated the collective bargaining agreement.

AVALANCHE: Signed D Johnny Boychuk to a multiyear contract.

BLUE JACKETS: Assigned D Darrel Scoville to Syracuse of the AHL. CAPITALS: Activated D Jean-Francois Fortin.
