Jane W. Wiener, 74, homemaker, teacher

Jane W. Wiener, a homemaker and former Baltimore County teacher, died of cancer Wednesday at Union Memorial Hospital. The Catonsville resident was 74.

Born Evelyn Jane Warfield in Clarksburg in Montgomery County, she was a 1946 graduate of Richard Montgomery High School and earned a bachelor's degree in education from what is now Towson University.

She taught English and history at Catonsville Junior High School and North Point's Gray Manor Elementary School until the birth of her first child in 1954.

She was a member and former president of the Women's Auxiliary of the Engineering Society of Baltimore at the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion on West Mount Vernon Place, where she led visitors' tours for more than 25 years.

She was a member of the Towson University Alumni Association and helped organize class reunions.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Catonsville United Methodist Church, 6 Melvin Ave., where she was a member and past president of the administrative and trustees' boards.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Max N. Wiener, a retired civil engineer; a son, David S. Wiener of Hunt Valley; a daughter, Janet W. Harbeck of Wilmington, N.C.; a brother, John P. Warfield of Clarksburg; and two grandchildren.
