March 12, 2003|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A 16-year-old Northwest Baltimore boy died yesterday afternoon at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, shortly after being shot in the head as he stood with several other youths on a corner in the Harlem Park community, city police said.

The victim was identified as Dennis Williams, of the 2200 block of Ruskin Ave.

Williams was standing at Fulton and Edmondson avenues about 12:45 p.m. when an unknown gunman approached from the rear and shot him once in the back of the head with a handgun, said Officer Donny Moses, a police spokesman.

The motive was unknown, but witnesses told police that Williams appeared to be the intended target.

Anyone with information about the slaying is urged to call Detective Darren Sanders at 410-396-2100.
