Ehrlich creates panel on affordable housing

March 11, 2003

Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. announced yesterday that he plans to create a commission to study affordable housing in Maryland because of a shrinking supply of moderately priced homes in some areas.

The commission will include leaders in the housing community from across the state.

Commission members will be given the task of creating a vision for affordable housing in Maryland through the 21st century.

As part of Ehrlich's affordable housing effort, he plans to hold a Governor's Conference on Housing in October at the University of Maryland, College Park. The conference will include updates on the commission and help establish a strategic housing plan.
