Chamber of Commerce sets Springfest Saturday

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual business Springfest from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at TownMall of Westminster.

The theme will be "Find Your Pot o' Gold Right Here in Carroll County." Local businesses will showcase their products and services throughout the mall.

The day will include entertainment, activities for all ages, and a visit by the Harlem Wizards basketball team at 3 p.m.

Chamber schedules series of meetings

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce has announced its meeting schedule.

A general membership luncheon will be held at noon Thursday at Wakefield Valley Golf and Conference Center. The first chamber Small Business Awards will recognize successful small businesses around the county. Kathleen Snyder, president of the state Chamber of Commerce, will be the speaker. The cost is $18 and reservations are required.

The Connections After Hours networking opportunity and business card exchange will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 18 at AAA Mid-Atlantic, 1030 Baltimore Blvd., Suite 140, Westminster. AAA staff will describe the services the company offers to motorists. This is an informal gathering of members to network and exchange business cards. Reservations are required by Tuesday.

The networking breakfast will be at 8 a.m. March 25 in the Blue Ridge multipurpose room at New Windsor Conference Center, 500 Main St. "The Chamber on Location" will feature New Windsor Mayor Sam Pierce sharing news about his town. The cost for the meal is $12. Reservations are required by March 18.

Scrapbook store opens `embellishments' room

The Second Floor Scrapbook Store in Eldersburg announces the opening of its new Card Making and Embellishments Room with about 2,000 new scrapbooking and card-making products.

A line of "Jolee's by You" three-dimensional accents is the centerpiece of the room, which includes glitter, fibers, ribbons, buttons, charms, stamp pads, embossing powders and more.

Becky Higgins, creative editor of Creating Keepsakes magazine, opened the room Feb. 23 with a program of card-making techniques and an autograph and picture session. The Second Floor Scrapbook Store is in Carrolltown Center on Liberty Road. In addition to scrapbook products, Spindler offers classes for beginning and experienced scrapbookers.

Fine Portraiture honored for its level of service

Fine Portraiture By Michele in Taneytown recently was honored by Burrell Professional Labs Presidential Circle for attaining a superior level of service.

Studio owner Michele Sheedy attended the Presidential Circle symposium.

Fine Portraiture by Michele has been providing family, high school senior and children's portraits for six years. Classes in all aspects of photography are available, from beginner to advanced digital and computer photo skills. The studio is on East Baltimore Street.
