One man was killed and a Timonium man was seriously injured in a crash involving two motorcycles on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway near the Baltimore Beltway yesterday afternoon, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 5 p.m. as the two motorcycles were leaving the inner loop of Interstate 695 onto the northbound lanes of the parkway, Maryland State Police said.

One driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not identified last night pending notification of his relatives. The other driver, Melvin K. Lashley, 32, of the first block of Quiet Stream Court in Timonium, was in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.

No charges were filed last night. The right lane of the parkway was closed for more than two hours.
