On March 5, 2003, DR. WILLIAM C. HARE, 81, of Port Charlotte, FL. Bill was born February 28, 1922, in Millers, MD. He served in U.S. Navy during WWII as a Pharmacist Mate. He later was past President of the Maryland Medical Association and the Baltimore City Veterinary Association. His other organization include, Freedom District Lions Club of Maryland, the Port Charlotte Lions Club, the Master Gardeners of Port Charlotte and the N.W. Port Charlotte Master Gardeners. For 15 years Bill was on the Ann Henderson radio talk show where he was affectionately called Dr. Bill. Through his travels overseas and throughout the United States he never met a stranger. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Doris K. Hare, two sons William C. (Diane, AKA Cooki) Hare, Jr, and John David Hare, grandfather of Alisha Hare Helphenstine and Wiliam Travis Hare. Friends may call at the Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 5200 Indian Springs Road, Punta Gorda on Saturday, March 8, 2003, from 10 to 11 A. M when services will be held in the chapel with the Rev. Bob Carlson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to any of the organization named above.
