HCC offers certification class for those seeking Internet careers

February 23, 2003

An i-Net+ certification class is being offered by Harford Community College for people interested in acquiring technical knowledge that would allow them to pursue Internet-related careers.

Classes will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 10:10 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from March 3 to April 16 at the Edgewood branch of the Harford County Public Library.

The CompTIA i-Net+ certification course is designed to certify entry-level Internet and e-commerce technical professionals responsible for the maintenance of Internet, Intranet and Extranet infrastructure and services and development of Web-related applications.

Students who are certified will have skills and knowledge equal to those of Internet professionals with six months of experience. The Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) program accepts the CompTIA i-Net+ certification as the first course toward the CIW certification. Internet experience, browsing, using e-mail, Windows 2000, and a working knowledge of directory and file structure are prerequisites for the course.

Students can register by mail or fax using the form included in the college's schedule of noncredit classes, or in person at the Office of Noncredit Registration, Edgewood Hall, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays; and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
