On February 15, 2003, SAMUEL PORTNEY, beloved husband of the late Freda (nee Albert) Portney; devoted son of the late Nathan and Mary Portney (nee Millstein); loving son-in-law of the late Abraham Joseph and Jennie Albert (nee Israelson); beloved father of Marylyn S. Portney Cooper, of Baltimore, Marvin Louis Portney, of Florida, David Norman Portney, of Baltimore, and Barry Ellis Portney, of Pennsylvania; devoted brother of the late Max Portney, Isaac Portney, Joseph Portney, Tillie Portney Stern Tilles, Jack Portney, Rose Portney Greenberg and Sol Portney; loving brother-in-law of Vi Kramer Portney, Miriam Lattin Albert, Edith Albert Ziskind, Irvin Jack Albert, Sarah Herzberg Albert and the late Ruth Sauber Portney, Ida Gabe Portney, Ethel Schwartz Portney, Berdie Meren Bloom Portney, Alvin Stern, Michael Tilles, Harry Greenberg, Leo Albert and Isadore Ziskind; devoted father-in-law of William Samuel Cooper, Leslie Snyder Portney and Susan Farber Portney, of Pennsylvania; loving grandfather of the Honorable Bruce Thomas Cooper, Dr. Jason Adam Cooper, Bari Barton Cooper, Esq., Sheri Portney Chaka, Lauren Jennifer Portney, Jennie Claire Portney, Miriam Ruth Portney, Jessica Deborah Portney and Benjamin Andrew Portney; loving great grandfather of Tucker and Jared Chaka, Rachel Ruth Cooper, Seth Barton Cooper. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Services at SOL LEVINSON & BROS, INC., 8900 Reisterstown Road, at Mount Wilson Lane, on Friday, February 21, at 12 noon. Interment at Beth Tfiloh Congregation Cemetery, Windsor Mill Road. Please omit flowers.
