On February 14, 2003, CATHERINE MARIE "Cass" died at the Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville Hockessin, DE, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Cass had been a resident of this excellent facility for over six years and was 91 years old. Born in Baltimore on December 8, 1911, she was the youngest daughter and third child of the late Charles A. and Margaret (O'Conner) Maenner. Cass was preceded in death by her brothers Charles (Buck) and John Maenner and her sister Helen Fitzgerald. Cass never married and devoted her life to caring for her parents and, in recent years, for her sister Helen. She was employed for almost 40 years as a senior bookkeeper for the Atlantic Richfield Company and predecessor companies in Baltimore, Charlotte, and Philadelphia, retiring in 1970. In her younger years, Cass was an avid bowler. In retirement along with her sister Helen, she thoroughly enjoyed flea marketing and antique hunting throughout the eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey area. For her entire life, Cass was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the family owned Leonard J. Ruck, Inc., Funeral Home, 5305 Harford Road (at Echodale), on Wednesday from 6 to 9 P.M. and on Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Dominic's Church at 10 A.M. Interment Parkwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, 609 S. Convent Road, Aston, PA 19014-1207.
