Eleanor M. Celano, 88, sales associate at Hutzler's

Eleanor Marney Celano, a retired Hutzler's department store sales associate, died of complications from a respiratory ailment Feb. 8 at a nursing home in Naples, Fla. The former Catonsville resident was 88.

Born and raised in Ogdensburg, N.Y., she moved to New York City and studied and practiced nursing briefly after her 1933 graduation from Ogdensburg Academy.

She and her husband of 34 years, Joseph John Celano, a Bostich Textron sales manager, moved to Catonsville in 1961 and settled on Rambling Drive. Her husband died in 1975.

Mrs. Celano sold fashion accessories at Hutzler's Westview store, and also showed and rented apartments at local complexes. She was an avid golfer and member of Rolling Road Country Club before moving to Florida in 1990.

She also was a former member of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in Catonsville and Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church in Arbutus.

A memorial service in Catonsville is planned for early spring.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph J. Celano Jr. of Cockeysville and Paul E. Celano, of Naples; a daughter, Peggy Celano of Chevy Chase; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
