In anticipation of this weekend's snow, tournament officials have moved the state duals wrestling finals, originally scheduled for today at Catoctin High in Frederick County, to Tuesday at two of the participating schools.

Fourth-ranked River Hill (21-3) will play host to the Class 4A-3A finals, and second-ranked Owings Mills (15-0) to the 2A-1A finals. Semifinals begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the finals at 7:30.

"Because of the impending inclement weather that's coming in and the duration of it, the event had to be moved," said tournament Dean Johnson. "Catoctin is not able to address the Tuesday schedule. These two locations are the most centralized and had the flexibility to accommodate us."

Top-seeded La Plata (16-0) will meet fourth-seeded Chesapeake-AA (13-6), which is ranked seventh, in one 4A-3A semifinal, and second-seeded River Hill meets Northwest (12-2) of Montgomery County in the other. In the 2A-1A, top-seeded Beall (23-0) meets Kent County (12-4) and second-seeded Owings Mills faces eighth-ranked Centennial (14-1).

The private schools state wrestling tournament at McDonogh, which began yesterday, will "proceed as scheduled," said Haswell Franklin, chairman of the Maryland State Wrestling Association, which sponsors the tournament.

"A lot of teams already have local accommodations in hotels, which cost them money," Franklin said. " ... The only thing that would force us to postpone it is if McDonogh closed its facilities."
