South Baltimore man found fatally shot

Police have no suspects in west-side killing

A South Baltimore man died yesterday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, shortly after he was shot at a West Baltimore intersection, police said.

The 40-year-old man, whose identity was withheld pending notification of family members, was standing at Payson Street and Harlem Avenue about 4:55 p.m. when he was shot in the chest, chin and left arm by an unknown assailant.

Western District officers heard the shots and found the man lying on the pavement, said Officer Troy Harris, a police spokesman.

The victim died at 5:24 p.m. Police said they have no suspect and know of no motive. They urge anyone with information about the killing to call Detective Kirk Hastings at 410-396-2100.
