Jennie Blaney, 81, Social Security employee

Jennie Blaney, a retired Social Security Administration employee and former Hebbville resident, died of Alzheimer's disease Tuesday at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro. She was 81.

Born and raised in Vineland, N.J., Jennie Bazan worked as a cosmetologist in New Jersey during the 1940s.

In the early 1940s, she married Walter Briago. They moved to Hebbville in 1961.

After her husband's death in 1967, she went to work at Social Security in Woodlawn as a health technician. She retired in 1983.

In 1978, she married Charles Warren Blaney, who died in 1989.

Mrs. Blaney was a former communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church in Woodlawn, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

A tenpin bowler, she was a member of a league based at the Normandy Lanes in Ellicott City.

She moved in 1995 to Ravenwood Lutheran Village, an assisted-living facility in Hagerstown, and had been a resident of the nursing home in Boonsboro since 2001.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at noon tomorrow at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Rosenhayn, N.J.

Mrs. Blaney is survived by two sons, William Briago of Ocean City and Thomas Briago of Sykesville; two daughters, Annamarie Poole of Hagerstown and Barbara Dunphey of Glenside, Pa.; a stepson, Joseph Blaney of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Sophie Ghagan of Millville, N.J., and Agnes Winiasz of Vineland; and seven grandchildren.
