St. Mary's, St. Paul's advance to finals

Second-seeded St. Mary's used four second-period goals to defeat third-seeded Calvert Hall, 4-3, in a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference semifinal yesterday at Piney Orchard in Odenton.

The Cardinals (11-7-5, 4-5-2) opened the game with first-period goals by Mike Anderson and Trevor Shipley. St. Mary's (8-5-2, 5-4-1) responded with four straight goals - by Grant Krebs, Will Dalton, Nick Torre and Ryan Kelly - to take the lead after the second period.

The Saints advanced to face top-seeded Mount St. Joseph for the A Conference title at 7 p.m. Friday at Piney Orchard.

In the B Conference, second-seeded St. Paul's got two goals from Grady Goldberg to beat third seed Gilman, 3-1, in a semifinal at Ice World in Edgewood.

The Crusaders (10-5-1, 8-2-1) advanced to face top-seeded Boys' Latin in Friday's conference championship game at Piney Orchard at 5 p.m.
