Fire forces 7 in family from home

February 12, 2003|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Seven members of a Wilde Lake family were displaced from their home by a fire Saturday afternoon, Howard County firefighters said yesterday.

The blaze at the family's three-story townhouse, in the 10300 block of Twin Rivers Road, was reported at 3:35 p.m. Saturday and was extinguished by 10:30 p.m., said Lt. Dennis Beard, a department spokesman.

Three of the family members were sent to Howard County General Hospital for minor injuries, Beard said. They were treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, Beard said.

The Red Cross is providing the family with a hotel room and clothing, a spokeswoman said.

Neither the firefighters nor the Red Cross would identify the family members.
